LEO AGCOLICOL

One of the most prominent leaders and businessmen in Maui’s Filipino community, Leo Agcolicol is also one of the longest-serving radio hosts on the Valley Isle. Leo has been an on-air personality on KNUI-AM since 1974. He currently hosts a morning show on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, as well as an evening show on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A Vietnam veteran, Leo currently works as Financial Officer and Assistant Vice President in the Business Banking Division at the Kahului Branch of Central Pacific Branch.

He has served the community in any numbers of ways, including being a current board member of the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and the J. Walter Cameron Center. He’s also served on the boards of Maui Crime Stoppers, Maui Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Salvation Army and the March of Dimes. He is a member of the VFW Post 3850, DAV Maui and the Maui Chamber of Commerce.

Agcolicol is the current president of Paoay Currimao Hawaii Organization on Maui and past president of the United Filipino Cultural Club and the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce, as well as serving on the board of various other Filipino community organizations.

Somehow, Leo Agcolicol still finds time in his very busy schedule to promote the music and culture of his native land on FoxNews-900.

FRED DULDULAO

There has not been a more constant and continuous voice on Maui's airwaves over the past four decades than Fred Duldulao.

He began his radio career on the original KNUI-AM in 1967, when the station was based in a pasture in Olinda. Fred remembers have to dodge cows and their assorted offerings in order to make his rain-gauge readings at that time.

Fred made the move to town when the studios were relocated in Kahului, and his voice and Filipino programs have been a staple of the station throughout. Listen to Fred Duldulao on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Maui's FoxNews-900, KNUI-AM.

MAGGIE EVANGELISTA

Maggie Evangelista – known on her radio show as Ate Maggie – began her radio career in the late 1970s with the late air personality A.B. Sevilla at the old KMVI. She teamed up with Mr. Sevilla every morning from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., as well as hosting her own show Ragragsak ti Agsapa (Joy in the Morning) – on Sundays. Her show now airs on Sundays, from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., on FoxNews-900.

CARLOS HERNANDEZ

A native of Guatemala, Carlos David Hernandez arrived on Maui in August 1991 and quickly became involved in local community activities, initially serving as a volunteer timer for the Maui County Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association and as a member of the Maui Puerto Rican Club choral group, which he later served as a director. In September 1995, Hernandez launched his radio career by hosting Maui’s first Spanish-language show – ”La Hora Latina“ (The Latin Hour) under the mentorship of Audrey Rocha Reed.

Hernandez prides himself in offering a wide spectrum of Latin Music – from soulful boleros to up-beat salsa, and everything in between. That’s why Carlos has renamed his expanded weekend show ”Ventana al Mundo Hispano“ or Window to the Hispanic World.
